Operation Queer Space

This is a documentary filmed and rightfully owned by Annaliese Constable following the events that took place in 2004 where Allsorts Queer Collective took action to gain a safe Queer Space on campus at the University Of Wollongong when their space was moved to an uninhabitable location off campus for the construction of the Uni Bar in 2000. This video portrays an act by Allsorts to attain a level of justice for queer students on campus

The UOW Allsorts website is being updated to allow for more online interactivity. Here is a list of updates that should be up and running in the near future.

Forums: The Allsorts online forums allow for new, current, future members and non members to sign up and connect with each other. It will be a way for members to interact with each other in a friendly environment, see whats new, have a voice on what they would like to see, etc. There will be rules and regulations in place to ensure the safety of the users.

Resources: This page will allow visitors to view online resources as well as see what resources Allsorts has to offer. If there are any resources that visitors would like to get from Allsorts, they will be able to email an Allsorts representative to acquire those resources.

Allsorts YouTube Channel: There has been recommendations on creating an Allsorts YouTube channel, we are looking into how we will go about this but check the website regularly to see how these updates are coming along.

Allsorts will be partnering with UOW Queer Alliance for the 2013 Mardi Gras Parade. The theme is Not Just Queer. The UOW Mardi Gras Facebook page can be found here.

We will be having a Mardi Gras Working Bee on February 16 at 1pm, where we will be working on banners, signs, costumes, etc. It is to be held at the Queer Space (building 19, room G039), the Facebook event page can be found here.

We are hosting a raffle during O-Week to raise funds for our Mardi Gras float, details can be found here.

This is a celebration of the myriad of diverse genders that exist within our community. Registration has been closed but we still have a few vacant spots, if you wish to be apart of the float, the registration form can be found here.

Members from Allsorts host a radio show called Pink Nation (we didn’t come up with the name) every Monday from 5-6pm. You can listen in live on 106.9 FM if you are in the Illawarra.

Allsorts is Wollongong University’s Queer Collective. We encourage all queer, lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, asexual, genderqueer, intersex, sex and/or gender diverse and queer-friendly people to meet, socialise, and generally have fun.

Take a squiz about the website. Especially, hit up our ‘What’s On‘ section for more info on the super rad things we do – there’s a lot of ‘em. We would like to thank our previous Queer Convenors for 2012 Ash Phthalo and Nik for the amazing work they did over the past year. We also welcome our new Queer Convenors for 2013 Andy Hogan and Patrick Anderson and wish them all the best for the new year. This year we have elected Ben J Stylo as our Media and Events Representative.
